General presentation
Bieszczady
Wild massif from the southeast, between grassy ridges, forests, scattered villages, lakes and sense of end of the Polish world.
Połonina Wetlińska, Ustrzyki Górne and Lake Solina give the most telling landmarks of Bieszczady. Together, they form a destination where mountain reliefs, forests, natural spaces and shores and lakes meet, with atmospheres that change over the stages rather than just one uniform decor.
See all
For a stay of 3 to 7 days, it is better to balance visits and travel times. Also to be anticipated: long access and mountain weather. A car is usually the easiest way to connect the different sectors. Accessibility varies from site to site and deserves to be verified step by step.

World Heritage
Forêts primaires et anciennes de hêtres des Carpates et d’autres régions d’Europe
In the Bieszczady, ancient beech forests show the strength of a forest left to its natural cycles: dead trunks, young shoots, humid clearings and changing canopy. This transnational heritage tells the expansion of beech in Europe since the last glaciation, but the experience remains first of all that of a silent walk under the leaves.

Town or village
Połonina Wetlińska
The Połonina Wetlińska is one of the great grassy ridges of the Bieszczady, open to winds and long views. The climb crosses the forest before reaching a naked landscape, very different from the alpine mountains, where the soft lines count more than the steep peaks.

Town or village
Ustrzyki Górne
Ustrzyki Górne is a mountain hamlet that serves as a base for the most famous hiking Bieszczady. Around a few accommodations and departures of trails, there is an atmosphere of end of road, with thick forests and grassy ridges nearby.

Nature
Lac Solina
Lake Solina brings Bieszczady a softer facet, made of water arms, wooded hills, ports and beaches. It is suitable after peak hikes, for a day of boating, swimming or views from the dam.
