General presentation
Cambrian Coast
Rail and maritime coast between estuaries, small stations, mountains in the background and slower pace than the large poles.
The discovery of Cambrian Coast revolves around Barmouth, Aberdyfi and Tywyn. The stay thus alternates between the coast, mountain reliefs, riverscapes and heritage, giving a concrete picture of the destination beyond its only best known site.
See all
For a stay of 2 to 5 days, a quiet rhythm works well. Also to be anticipated: railway schedules to anticipate and changing coastal weather. The trip can be organised without a car if the drop point and local connections are selected in advance. Accessibility varies from site to site and deserves to be checked step by step.

Places worth visiting
A selection to start dreaming and organizing the stay — not an exhaustive list of everything there is to see.

Coastal station
Barmouth
Barmouth combines coastal rhythm and station character with a continuous reading of the docks, streets and seafront. There is an atmosphere of port transformed into a walk of observation: sounds, light on the water and silhouettes of buildings. A long time allows us to understand how the station breathes between activity and breaks on the shoreline strip.

Coastal village
Aberdyfi
Aberdyfi stretches between the Dyfi estuary, the colourful seafront houses and the hills that climb almost immediately behind the village. Sailing boats, sandbanks and wide light give the shore a changing look depending on the tide. The place is suitable for a slow stop, between walking, beach and terrace facing the water.

Beach resort
Tywyn
Tywyn keeps the simple look of a Welsh seaside resort, with a large pebble and sand beach, an open walk and the background of the hills. The city also serves as a starting point for the Talyllyn Railway, adding a rail note to the day. The late afternoons show beautiful views of Cardigan Bay.

Train
Talyllyn Railway
The Talyllyn Railway has its small steam trains mounted from Tywyn to the inner valleys, between fields, woods and slopes of southern Snowdonia. The old cars, the modest stops and the slow pace turn the journey into a real crossing of the landscape. For families as well as for railway heritage lovers, the trip counts as much as the arrival.
