For a stay of 3 to 6 days, it is better to balance visits and travel times. Also to anticipate: changing weather. The trip can be organised without a car if the drop point and local connections are selected in advance. Accessibility varies from site to site and deserves to be checked step by step.

Places worth visiting
A selection to start dreaming and organizing the stay — not an exhaustive list of everything there is to see.

City
Clermont-Ferrand
Clermont-Ferrand strikes with its dark lava stone, visible on the cathedral as in the streets of the old centre. From the nearby squares and slopes, the city shows the Puys chain in the background, giving urban walks a very special volcanic horizon.

Mountain
Puy de Dôme
The Puy de Dome concentrates the Auvergne on a legible climb: pastures, laces, peak wind and wide view of the Puys chain. At the top, the remains of Mercury's temple remind us that this mountain was already a place of passage and worship, long before the current viewpoints.

Natural site
Chaîne des Puys
The Chain of Puys first hears its successive ridges, then observes in the valleys that connect them. Walking in contact with the senses shows how each peak dialogues with the other. The end-of-day light amplifies the slopes and makes the volumes more legible.

Theme park
Vulcania
Vulcania, beyond the exhibitions, offers a starting point to understand the volcanic landscape: clear circulation, spaces of explanation and then visual windows on the surrounding reliefs. The visitor feels the natural contrast better after a transition between interior and exterior. A rush-free passage promotes understanding.
