General presentation
Dubrovnik and southern Dalmatia
Spectacular fortified city on the Adriatic coast, between ramparts, islands, cliffs, maritime heritage and south Dalmatian excursions.
The discovery of Dubrovnik and South Dalmatia revolves around Remparts, Stradun and Lokrum. The stay thus alternates between the coastline, heritage, urban life and island landscapes, which gives a concrete picture of the destination beyond its only best-known site.

For a stay of 3 to 5 days, it is better to balance visits and travel times. Also to be expected: very frequented during the day and numerous stairs. The trip can be organised without a car if the drop point and local connections are selected in advance. Accessibility varies from site to site and deserves to be checked step by step.

Places worth visiting
A selection to start dreaming and organizing the stay — not an exhaustive list of everything there is to see.

Fortified city
Vieille ville de Dubrovnik
The old town of Dubrovnik concentrates ramparts, stone streets, stairs, churches, palaces and views of the Adriatic in a very tight space. To avoid the saturated decor effect, it is better to vary the hours and get away from the Stradun as soon as possible.

Fortifications
Remparts de Dubrovnik
The ramparts give the most spectacular reading of Dubrovnik, with red roofs, sea, forts and island of Lokrum in the background. The route is exposed to the sun and stairs, but it reveals better than any other site the defensive logic of the city.

Island
Lokrum
Lokrum brings a green breath just in front of Dubrovnik, with pine forest, swimming rocks, old monastery and views of the ramparts. The short crossing allows to get out of the urban density without organising a long excursion.

Remarkable location
Mljet
Mljet offers one of the greenest islands of Dalmatia, with pine forests, calm waters and salt lakes around the monastery of Sainte-Marie. Since Dubrovnik, it immediately changes the tempo of the journey: ferries, bicycles, swimming and trails replace the stone alleys and the crowd of ramparts.
