General presentation
Glen Canyon et Lake Powell
Sinuous reservoir, sandstone cliffs and canyons accessible by water.
Rainbow Bridge, Lake Powell and Glen Canyon Dam give the most telling landmarks of Glen Canyon and Lake Powell. Together, they form a destination where the shores and lakes, desert areas and natural spaces meet, with atmospheres that change over the stages rather than just one uniform decor.
See all
For a stay of 3 to 7 days, a quiet rhythm works well. Also to be anticipated: conditions to be checked according to the season. A car is usually the easiest way to connect the different sectors. Accessibility varies from site to site and deserves to be verified step by step.

Nature and panorama
Rainbow Bridge
Rainbow Bridge is a natural arch isolated from the Lake Powell area, considered a sacred place by many Aboriginal peoples in the area. The approach is usually done by boat and then on foot, which gives the visit a special rhythm: blue water, sandstone walls, then silent appearance of the great arch.

Lake
Lake Powell
Lake Powell Stretch its blue waters between the sandstone walls of Glen Canyon, creating a landscape of creeks, drowned cliffs and winding arms. The lake is discovered mainly from water, by boat, kayak or excursion, but the high points around Page show the contrast between red desert and reservoir.

Nature and panorama
Glen Canyon Dam
Glen Canyon Dam closes the Colorado at Page and gives birth to Lake Powell, with a mass of concrete that clearly divides between natural canyon and human structure. From the viewpoints and the neighbouring bridge, the difference between the water held upstream and the narrowed river towards Lees Ferry is measured.

Nature and panorama
Reflection Canyon
Reflection Canyon is one of the most photographed meanders in Lake Powell, with water arms that draw dark curves between sandstone walls. Its land access is long and isolated, without services, which reserves it to very prepared travellers; from water or air, its forms are read more easily.
