General presentation
Hilton Head et Beaufort
Low islands, beaches, Spanish moss oaks, Gullah culture and soft towns of Lowcountry.
To understand what Hilton Head and Beaufort are, you need to look at Coligny Beach, Beaufort Historic District and Hunting Island. These places give us a view of a territory marked by island landscapes, coastline, natural spaces and heritage and allow us to move from emblematic sites to more intimate stages.
See all
For a stay of 3 to 6 days, a quiet rhythm works well. Also to be anticipated: heat and mosquitoes and residential atmosphere. A car is usually the easiest way to connect the different sectors. Accessibility varies from site to site and deserves to be verified step by step.

Places worth visiting
A selection to start dreaming and organizing the stay — not an exhaustive list of everything there is to see.

Historical centre
Beaufort Historic District
Beaufort Historic District gives a soft version of Lowcountry, with ancient houses, verandas, oaks covered with Spanish moss and views of the river. Residential streets invite you to look at the wood details, gardens and shadows rather than a unique monument. The water front adds a calm breath to this historic, very domestic centre.

Coastal park
Hunting Island State Park
Hunting Island State Park mixes wild beach, lagoons, coastal forest and isolated lighthouse, creating a sense of clear deviation from the resorts. On the coastal strip, the walk alternates sand, breeze and open view, to the wooden margins where the coast closes. We perceive a more crude Atlantic nature.

Natural refuge
Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge
Pinckney Island offers marshes, ponds and grassy corridors that remain very sensitive to any movement, especially at dawn. The trails give a fine reading of the wetlands and their silent rhythm, between idle d ́eau and animal traces. The shelter really appreciates when the morning light stays low.
