General presentation
Hiroshima and Miyajima
City of memory and renewal extended by a sacred island, temples, forest trails and the inland sea of Seto.
To understand what Hiroshima and Miyajima are, you must look at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial, Itsukushima Shukkei Garden and Shukkei-en Shokkei. These places give you a view of a territory marked by the big city, heritage, coastline and island landscapes and allow you to move from emblematic sites to more intimate stages.

For a stay of 3 to 6 days, a quiet rhythm works well. Also to be anticipated: variable influx depending on the season. The trip can be organised without a car if the drop point and local connections are selected in advance. The main sites are generally easy to access.

Place indismissible
Hiroshima Peace Memorial
The Genbaku dome remains on the riverside as one of the few structures close to the still standing hypocenter. The nearby park and museum build a sober tour, centered on civilian lives, the consequences of the bombing and the work of memory.

Temple
Sanctuary of Itsukushima
Itsukushima seems to float on the edge of Miyajima when the tide covers its stilts and surrounds its large torii. At low tide, the landscape changes completely and reveals the foreshore, while the streets and temples of the island easily extend the visit.

Garden
Shukkei-en Garden
Shukkei-en consists around a pond a miniature of bridges, hills, pavilions and plantations in the center of Hiroshima. Reconstructed after 1945, the garden offers a quiet place where the history of the city is also read in surviving trees and restorations.

Castle
Château d'Hiroshima
The castle of Hiroshima reconstructs its dungeon in the middle of moat and walls spared or restored. The museum retraces the Castral city before 1945, while the surviving trees link the site directly to the history of the bombing.
