General presentation
Lake Tahoe
Immense alpine lake bordered by beaches, forests and summits of Sierra Nevada.
Emerald Bay, Sand Harbor and Heavenly Mountain are the most telling landmarks of Lake Tahoe. Together, they form a destination where the shores and lakes, mountain reliefs, forests and natural spaces meet, with atmospheres that change over the course of the stages rather than just one uniform decor.
See all
For a stay of 4 to 8 days, it is better to balance visits and travel times. Also to be anticipated: conditions to be checked according to the season. A car is usually the easiest way to connect the different sectors. Accessibility varies from site to site and deserves to be verified step by step.

Places worth visiting
A selection to start dreaming and organizing the stay — not an exhaustive list of everything there is to see.

Nature and landscape
Emerald Bay
Emerald Bay Draws the most theatrical anise of Lake Tahoe, with a wooded island, deep waters and granite slopes that linger. The views from the road reveal the bay with one look, while the shore gives access to Vikingsholm and the calmer waters.

Place indismissible
Sand Harbor
Sand Harbor shows the Tahoe on the Nevada side, with very clear water, rounded granite blocks and beaches that invite both swimming and photography. Kayaks and paddles slide between the rocks; summer requires to arrive early, because the places leave quickly.

Nature and panorama
Heavenly Mountain
Heavenly Mountain dominates South Lake Tahoe with trails and gazebos that look at both the lake and the Nevada desert. In winter, the ski area attracts skiers for its open views; out of snow, the cable car and the trails give a very spectacular reading of the Tahoe basin.

Place indismissible
Vikingsholm
Vikingsholm lies at the bottom of Emerald Bay, with its steep roofs, Scandinavian details and stone integrated into the alpine landscape. The descent from the road makes the arrival more intimate: the mansion appears between pines and shore, facing the green water and the small island of the bay.
