General presentation
Sausalito and the Marin Headlands
Belvederes on the bay, cliffs and small maritime town facing San Francisco.
To understand what Sausalito and Marin Headlands are, you need to look at Battery Spencer, Point Bonita Lighthouse and Muir Woods. These places give you a view of a territory marked by the coastline, natural spaces and urban life and allow you to move from emblematic sites to more intimate stages.

Places worth visiting
A selection to start dreaming and organizing the stay — not an exhaustive list of everything there is to see.

Place indismissible
Battery Spencer
Battery Spencer It is occupied by former military positions above the Golden Gate, on the Marin side, with the bridge almost at hand. The concrete ruins, the wind and the cliffs give a rough foreground to the photos of San Francisco, especially when the fog passes under the cables or teares itself on the bay.

Nature and landscape
Point Bonita Lighthouse
The lighthouse at Point Bonita marks the entrance of the bay on a rocky point beaten by the waves. The access, between coastal path, tunnel and small suspended bridge, is part of the experience: it feels the California coast more wild, with the Golden Gate in retreat and the ocean just below.

Place indismissible
Muir Woods
Muir Woods Protects a valley of coastal sequoias where the light descends in columns between huge trunks. Bridges and trails follow the stream under a fresh canopy, easy to visit from San Francisco but quiet enough early in the morning to give the sensation of entering an ancient forest.

Place indismissible
Sausalito waterfront
The seafront of Sausalito Watch San Francisco from the other bank, between pontoons, shops, cafes and houses hanging on the slope. Ferries, sailboats and light on the bay give a maritime than city atmosphere, ideal for a late day after the Marin Headlands.
