General presentation
Nara
First great Japanese capital, where monumental temples, shrines, gardens and suede occupy a vast park at the foot of the hills.
To understand what Nara is, you must look at the Tōdai-ji Temple, Nara Park and Kasuga-taisha Shrine. These places give us a view of a territory marked by urban life, heritage, forests and natural spaces and allow us to move from emblematic sites to more intimate stages.

For a stay of 2 to 4 days, a quiet rhythm works well. Also to be anticipated: conditions to be checked according to the season. A car is usually the easiest way to connect different sectors. The main sites are generally easy to access.

World Heritage
Ensemble de kofun de Mozu-Furuichi : tertres funéraires de l’ancien Japon
The Kofun of Mozu-Furuichi form a singular funeral landscape in the Osaka plain, with square or round lockholes surrounded by moat. Their size and shape reveal the rank of the elites of ancient Japan, in a period when power expressed through the shaped earth.

Temple
Temple Tōdai-ji
Tōdai-ji houses a monumental statue of the Buddha in one of the large wooden buildings of Nara. The door, lanterns and neighbouring pavilions give the whole a magnitude that extends naturally in the paths of the park.

Place indismissible
Parc de Nara
The park Nara connects temples, lawns and forest edges to the middle of suedes used to visitors. Their presence has been part of the landscape for a long time, but the park's interest is also due to distances, perspectives and transitions between urban and religious spaces.

Temple
Sanctuaire Kasuga-taisha
Kasuga-taisha is discovered at the end of forest aisles bordered by stone lanterns covered with foam. In the enclosure, the bronze lanterns, the vermillon of the buildings and the depth of the woods create a very different atmosphere from the vast courtyards of Tōdai-ji.
