General presentation
Naxos
Great Cyclade balanced, between Chora, long beaches, mountain villages, ancient sites, local produce and hikes.
To understand what Naxos is, look at Portara, Chora and Halki. These places give us the opportunity to see a territory marked by island landscapes, the coastline, mountain reliefs and heritage, and allow us to move from emblematic sites to more intimate stages.
See all
For a stay of 4 to 8 days, it is best to balance visits and travel times. Also to be anticipated: wind possible and seasonality of buses. A car is usually the easiest way to connect different sectors. Accessibility varies from site to site and deserves to be checked step by step.

Places worth visiting
A selection to start dreaming and organizing the stay — not an exhaustive list of everything there is to see.

Coast
Portara
The Portara stands on the island of Palatia, at the entrance of the port of Naxos, like a marble door open to the sea. The passage at sunset gives a strong image of the island, between ancient vestige, silhouette of Chora and boats entering the bay.

Town or village
Chora
Chora of the Naxos mix lively port, cycladic alleys and old district of Kastro, where vaulted passages remind the Venetian period. The city is thick enough to go beyond the ferry stage, with taverns, shops, modest museums and quick access to the western beaches.

Town or village
Halki
Halki is located in the valley of Tragea, in the heart of Naxos, surrounded by olive trees, Byzantine churches and old workshops. Its neoclassical houses and kitron distilleries give a very different interior stopover from the long beaches of the island.
