The ramparts of Lucca form a wooded walk over the city, wide enough to accommodate bicycles, families and walkers without a jostling. From this green belt, roofs, bell towers and bastions appear in sequence, providing a peaceful way to grasp the compact shape of the historic centre.

Piazza dell-Anfiteatro is revealed by its circular plan felt in the movement of steps, between shops, facades and quieter areas. The place speaks as much by its layout as by its social animation. A good stop to capture Lucca's soul at man height.
