General presentation
Pontine Islands
Archipelago off the Lazio, between cliffs, coves, white villages, marine caves and simple island stays.
Ponza, Palmarola and Ventotene give the most telling landmarks of Pontine Islands. Together, they make up a destination where the island landscapes, the coastline and the natural spaces meet, with atmospheres that change over the course of the stages rather than a single uniform decor.
See all
For a stay of 2 to 5 days, it is better to balance visits and travel times. Also to be anticipated: weather-dependent and very seasonal ferries. The trip can be organised without a car if the drop point and local connections are selected in advance. Accessibility varies from site to site and deserves to be checked step by step.

Places worth visiting
A selection to start dreaming and organizing the stay — not an exhaustive list of everything there is to see.

Place
Ponza
Ponza The port is set in a tight relief of pastel houses, coves and volcanic cliffs plunged into a very clear sea. The port sets the tone with its arcades and boats, then the roads and trails lead to Chiaia di Luna, the natural swimming pools and the gazebos swept by the wind.

Place
Palmarola
Palmarola is wilder than Ponza, with cut cliffs, sea caves and waters that change color according to the bottom. We come there mainly by boat, to approach rocky arches, isolated coves and this feeling of island almost without built decor.

Place
Ventotene
Ventotene offers an experience marked by the simplicity of the coastal landscape: beaches, cliffs, small urban spaces. By changing angle along the coast, perceptions are quickly renewed. It is an island to be approached by strolling, with regular breaks to capture shades of light.

Place
Chiaia di Luna
Chiaia di Luna It is built in the tension between sand, rocks and narrow paths. The ascent then descent offers multiple views of the shore, and each step brings out a different texture of the bay. The place requires a slow plan.
