General presentation
Rhodope Mountains
Mild and deep massif, with gorges, villages, forests, caves, musical traditions and slow mountain roads.
Trigrad Gorges, Shiroka Laka and Marvellous Bridges give the most telling landmarks of Rhodopes. Together, they form a destination where mountain reliefs, forests, countryside and natural spaces meet, with atmospheres that change over the stages rather than just one uniform decor.
See all
For a stay of 3 to 7 days, it is better to balance visits and travel times. Also to be anticipated: slow roads and scattered services. A car is usually the easiest way to connect the different sectors. However, some sites require more walking, elevation or preparation.

Nature
Trigrad Gorges
The Trigrad gorges tightened the road between high limestone walls, in a fresh and wooded valley of the Rhodopes. The area attracts as much for the parade itself as for the cave of the Gorge du Diable, linked to the accounts of Orpheus and the groundwaters.

Town or village
Shiroka Laka
Shiroka Laka conserves Rhodopic houses with roofs of lauze, stone bridges and a strong musical tradition. The village is slowly discovered, between sloping alleys, small squares and views of the wooded slopes that close the valley.

Town or village
Wonderful Bridges
The Ponts merveilleux are two large natural limestone arches, dug in the forests of the Rhodopes. The site is struck by the contrast between the stone mass, the huge openings and the shady paths that allow us to measure the volumes.
