Places worth visiting
A selection to start dreaming and organizing the stay — not an exhaustive list of everything there is to see.

Place indismissible
Old town of Riga
Vecrīga concentrates cobblestone streets, tight squares, bell towers and market facades between the Daugava and the ancient route of the ramparts. The city reads better by varying the hours: quiet morning around the churches, more lively terraces in the afternoon, silhouettes cut out in the evening.

Place indismissible
House of the Black Heads
The Maison des Têtes Noires closes the Place de l'Hôtel-de-Ville by a manerist facade very worked, reconstructed with its gables, sculptures and contrasting colors. It evokes the brotherhoods of merchants of Riga as well as an urban history marked by destruction and restitution.

Cathedral
Cathedral of the Dome
The Cathedral of the Dome mixes brick, cloister, chapels and successive transformations in one of the great religious volumes of the Riga. Its historic organ gives an additional reason to enter, especially at concerts where acoustics fill space other than architecture alone.

Place indismissible
Quartier Art nouveau
Around Alberta iela, the Art Nouveau district of Riga Aline carved faces, fantastic animals, vegetal lines and neat stairwells. Lifting eyes rarely suffices: gates, ironwork and facade details tell the ambition of a city growing around 1900.
