General presentation
Rostock et Warnemünde
Hanseatic city and Baltic resort, between port, wide beaches, red bricks and sea excursions.
Rostock, Warnemünde and Alter Strom give the most telling landmarks of Rostock and Warnemünde. Together, they form a destination where urban life, coastline and heritage meet, with atmospheres that change over the course of the stages rather than a single uniform setting.
See all
For a stay of 2 to 5 days, it is better to balance visits and travel times. Also to be anticipated: sea wind and very seasonal. The trip can be organised without a car if the drop point and local connections are selected in advance. Accessibility varies from site to site and deserves to be checked step by step.

Places worth visiting
A selection to start dreaming and organizing the stay — not an exhaustive list of everything there is to see.

Remarkable location
Kühlungsborn
Kühlungsborn line up seaside villas, sea promenade and long Baltic beach, with an elegant old resort less agitated than the large neighbouring ports. The small Molli steam train, the jetty and white facades give relief to a day between swimming, walking by the sea and cafes facing the wind.

Town or village
Rostock
Rostock keeps the energy of a Hanseatic city facing the docks, with its brick gables, medieval gates and St. Mary's Church. The centre is well discovered between Neuer Markt, Kröpeliner Straße and the urban port; further on, Warnemünde extends the city to the beach and ferries.

Town or village
Warnemünde
In Warnemünde, the maritime front is mixed with the rhythm of the neighbourhood streets: chaining of small built fronts, frank views of the water and rest sequences at the edge of the pier. The interest comes from the contrasts between public space and quieter areas, and from the way the facades tell the popular use of the place.

Town or village
Alter Strom
I'm not sure what I'm doing.Alter Strom is the former channel of Warnemünde, lined with fishing boats, terraces and houses tight against the water. The place keeps a very lively mix of port and seaside resort: there are shuttles, fish stalls and the lighthouse nearby in the same movement.
