I'm not sure what I'm doing.American Shakespeare Center plays at the Blackfriars Playhouse, a sensitive copy of an Elizabethan theatre. The reduced layout, bright light and proximity to actors produce a more carnal rhythm of performance than that of a large modern theatre.

Natural Bridge
Natural Bridge is impressed by its limestone arch under which Cedar Creek continues to flow, transforming geology into almost architectural passage. From the path at the bottom of the gorge, the vault is better than from a simple high point. The freshness of the stream and the verticality of the walls give the site a very physical presence.

The campus Virginia Military Institute forms a very clear neo-Gothic architectural line facing the hills, with museums and chapel that illuminate the institutional history. The place is as much a memory architecture as a historical panorama of the Civil War in the Lexington fabric.
