General presentation
Symi
A small neoclassical island near Rhodes, known for its amphitheater port, stairs, boat coves and monastery of Panormitis.
Gialos, Ano Symi and Panormitis give Symi's most telling landmarks. Together, they form a destination where island landscapes, coastline and heritage meet, with atmospheres that change over the course of the stages rather than a single uniform decor.
See all
For a stay of 1 to 4 days, it is better to balance visits and travel times. Also to be anticipated: very hot and steep and limited beaches on foot. The trip can be organised without a car if the drop point and local connections are selected in advance. Accessibility varies from site to site and deserves to be checked step by step.

Places worth visiting
A selection to start dreaming and organizing the stay — not an exhaustive list of everything there is to see.

Town or village
Gialos
Gialos is the port of Symi, famous for its neoclassical pastel houses that climb in an amphitheater around the docks. The arrival by boat is the best angle on the village, with facades, stairs and yachts tightened in a very narrow bay.

Town or village
Ano Symi
Ano Symi rises above Gialos by long stairs, between restored houses, quiet passages and diving views of the port. The area shows another rhythm of the island, more residential, with alleys that capture the wind and evening light.

Town or village
Panormitis
Panormitis has a deep bay south of Symi, around a monastery dedicated to the archangel Michel. The boats arrive there in a more collected atmosphere than Gialos, with baroque bell tower, inner courtyards and dry hills that close almost completely the cove.
