Mount Tiantai, Temple Guoqing and Old Town Linhai give the most telling landmarks of Taizhou and Mount Tiantai. Mount Tiantai is associated with the Tiantai Buddhist school and a long tradition of mountain retreats. Routes, temples and waterfalls are scattered on a massif larger than it appears.

Guoqing is the founding monastery of the Tiantai school, located in a cultivated valley. Its religious activity and sober architecture require a respectful and unhurried visit. Architectural details are better discovered without haste.

Old town of Linhai
Linhai retains a long wall on the hills and an old street on the edge of the Lingjiang. The ascent of the ramparts gives a more complete reading than the only tourist street.
