Tismana It is best known for its monastery hanging on a wooded valley, at the foot of the reliefs of Oltenia. The visit combines religious architecture, forest freshness and rural roads, in an area less frequented than the major sites of Transylvania.

Cheile Sohodolului offers a gorge road between limestone walls, natural tunnels, basins and cliffs appreciated by climbers. The site allows a direct nature exit from Târgu Jiu, with short but very visual stops at the riverside.
