General presentation
Thun, Spiez and Lake Thun
Accessible alpine lake, castles, boats, vineyards, villages and gates to Bernese Oberland.
The discovery of Thune, Spiez and Lake Thune is structured around Thune, Spiez and Château d'Oberhofen. The stay thus alternates between urban life, shores and lakes, mountain reliefs and heritage, giving a concrete picture of the destination beyond its only best known site.
See all
For a stay of 2 to 5 days, it is better to balance visits and travel times. Also to be anticipated: very frequented in summer and relief around the lake. The trip can be organised without a car if the drop point and local connections are selected in advance. Accessibility varies from site to site and deserves to be checked step by step.

Places worth visiting
A selection to start dreaming and organizing the stay — not an exhaustive list of everything there is to see.

Place
Spiez
Spiez quickly understands itself by its anchoring along Lake Thune: docks, riparian lanes and facades form a continuous walk line. The views towards the water become different as soon as you go up slightly in the background of the urban front. Walking around, you can see how the city organizes access to the lake without fireworks.

Heritage
Oberhofen Castle
The castle of Oberhofen impresses with its silhouette on the edge of the water and the volumes that dominate without crushing the site. The surroundings, the courtyard and the side perspectives complete the building as well as the facades: they explain its role as a landmark within the licked landscape. It is better to move forward in sequence to grasp the relationship between architecture and shore.

Place
Niederhorn
The Niederhorn offers one of the most beautiful face-to-face with Lake Thune, the ridges of Justistal and the peaks of Bernese Oberland. It comes for the view, but also for the easy to modulate trails, between pastures, observation points and passages where the ibex sometimes appear.

Cave
Caves of Saint-Béat
The caves of Saint-Béat offer a deep experience: the light becomes more felt, the materials more present, and the sound changes as the volumes change. This sensory rupture justifies a concentrated visit rather than a simple front photo. In a few minutes of progress, we change the register without changing the place.
