Places worth visiting
A selection to start dreaming and organizing the stay — not an exhaustive list of everything there is to see.

Place indismissible
Co-cathédrale Saint-Jean
Behind a sober facade, the St John's co-cathedral unfolds a baroque interior with an almost confusing richness: funeral marbles, gilding, chapels of the languages of order and paintings of Caravage. The contrast between the austere exterior and the inner profusion gives the visit all its strength, especially taking the time of the side chapels.

Palace
Grand Masters' Palace
The Palais des Grands Maîtres occupies the heart of La Valette with its courses, its halls of appartment and its armory linked to the order of Saint John. The building maintains an official function, which makes openings variable; when accessible, the rooms tell of Malta's military and ceremonial power.

Garden
Upper Barrakka Gardens
The Upper Barrakka Gardens form a terrace suspended above the Grand Harbour, facing the wharfs, the bastions and the Three Cities. The arcades frame the views as successive windows; at certain times of the day, the salve of the nearby battery recalls the military dimension of the La Valette.

Culture and heritage
Fort Saint-Ange
Fort Saint-Ange occupies the point of Birgu, exactly where the Grand Harbour tightens and controls itself. Its strongholds, courtyards and platforms tell of Malta's defence, especially during the great siege of 1565; from the ramparts, La Valette appears as a fortified city in dialogue with the Three Cities.
