The discovery of Anticosti Island is based around Anticosti National Park, Vaureal Falls and the Vaureal River Canyon. The stay thus alternates between island landscapes, coastline, forests and riverscapes, giving a concrete picture of the destination beyond its only best known site.

The Anticosti National Park reveals the wild interior of the island, between the rivers, waterfalls, caves, forests and coastal cliffs. The visit requires more organization than a classic park, but it rewards with little frequented landscapes and a rare sense of isolation in the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

Chute Vauréal
The Vaureal Falls fall to the bottom of a narrow canyon, in one of Anticosti's most important sites. The trail runs along the river before reaching the foot of the waterfall, where the walls, humidity and rumbling of the water give a very mineral impression.

The canyon of the Vaureal river cuts the Anticosti plateau into rock corridors, basins and wooded passages. The walk follows the stream towards the great waterfall, with a cool and encased atmosphere that contrasts strongly with the open horizons of the coast.

The bay of the Tower shows the coastal face of Anticosti, made of strikes, low cliffs and a St. Lawrence with changing colours. It is an area for walking slowly, searching for shapes in the rock and feeling the size of the island facing the Gulf.
