To understand what Qingdao is, you must look at Jetée Zhanqiao, St.Michel Cathedral and Tsingtao Beer Museum. These places give us a view of a territory marked by the big city, urban life, the coastline and heritage and allow us to move from emblematic sites to more intimate stages.

For a stay of 3 to 6 days, a quiet rhythm works well. Also to be anticipated: variable influx depending on the season. The trip can be organised without a car if the drop point and local connections are selected in advance. The main sites are generally easy to access.

The long pier leads to an octagonal pavilion which has become one of the symbols of Qingdao. Tides, mist and crowds greatly change the view; the nearby seafront runs on foot.

The cathedral dominates the former German quarter with its two towers and its clear stone façade. The streets on the slope around it reveal a more interesting urban fabric than the only square.

The museum occupies part of the brewery founded in the early 20th century. Machines, archives and tastings explain how beer has become a marker of the city. Architectural details are better discovered without haste.

Badaguan Villas, gardens and streets with trees between several small beaches. An off-weekend walk allows you to better see the architectural details despite the numerous photo shoots. The beginning of the day usually offers more calm.
