Nature and landscape
Custer State Park
Custer State Park The Bisons are often the great meeting place, but the panoramic roads, trails and water bodies make up a very varied park, larger and wilder than a simple detour from Mount Rushmore.
Place indismissible
Needles Highway
Needles Highway Snake between granite needles, tight turns and narrow tunnels in the Black Hills. The road is slowly savoring, both for its rock formations and for its sudden framings on pines, ridges and passageways where the car seems to be near the stone.
Nature and landscape
Sylvan Lake
Sylvan Lake is framed by polished granite blocks and pines, giving one of the most photogenic landscapes of Custer State Park. The lake tower remains short and pleasant, with small beaches, footbridges and access to longer hikes in the Black Hills.
Nature and landscape
Wildlife Loop Road
Wildlife Loop Road crossing the grasslands of Custer State Park, where bisons, pronghorns, cervids and burros often appear near the roadway. The road takes time and patience: the most interesting scenes come from stops, binoculars and soft lights in the morning or evening.
