Gray Fossil Site
The Gray Fossil Site exhibits an ancient geological memory by the fossils of the Plioceen found near Gray. The place is interesting to understand what has disappeared from the current landscape: layers, animal traces and ancient composition of the area are read as a silent narrative underground.

Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park
Sycamore Shoals mixes historic Watauga ford and reconstructed fort, with animations that place the border between war, migration and local life. The site works well on a field visit: places and landscapes explain stories better than long panels.
