Songyuan and Chagan Lake
Large agricultural plain and winter fishing lake extend between meadows, marshes and villages in the northwest of Jilin.
Lake Chagan, Temple Miaoyin and Museum of Songyuan give the most telling landmarks of Songyuan and Lake Chagan. Together, they form a destination where urban life, shores and lakes, the countryside and natural spaces meet, with atmospheres that change over the stages rather than just one uniform decor.

Chagan is a vast shallow lake known for its traditional ice fishing during the winter. Outside of the festival, wetlands, birds and villages give a calmer face to the expanse of water.

The Miaoyin Temple is a small Buddhist complex of Mongolian tradition rebuilt near the shores of Lake Chagan. Its visit completes the landscape by recalling the cultural history of local pastoral communities.
