Valkenburg and the Limburg hills
Rare hills in the Netherlands, castles in ruins, caves, villages and gentle roads between Maastricht and Germany.
The discovery of Valkenburg and Limburg hills revolves around Valkenburg, Cauberg and Kasteelruïne Valkenburg. The stay thus alternates between the countryside, heritage and natural areas, which gives a concrete picture of the destination beyond its only best known site.

For a stay of 2 to 4 days, it is better to balance visits and travel times. Also to be anticipated: unusual relief for the country and scattered sites. A car is usually the easiest way to connect different sectors. Accessibility varies from site to site and deserves to be checked step by step.

訪れたい場所
夢を膨らませて滞在を計画するためのセレクションです。見どころをすべて網羅したリストではありません。
Place
Valkenburg aan de Geul
Valkenburg aan de Geul is a bed between cave relief and lively village centre, with powerful visual contrasts. The atmosphere is made of underground passages, open views and local life, a mixture that deserves a fragmented walk.
Place
Cauberg
The Cauberg is a natural axis of ascent, discharge and side views: the shape of the place dictates the rhythm of the stride. The view changes quickly according to the inclination and light, making it a particularly expressive landmark.
Heritage
Valkenburg Castle
The ruins of Valkenburg Castle overlook the small town from a limestone height, with open walls on the hills of Limburg. By traversing the remains of towers, passages and courtyards, one clearly reads the defensive function of the site and its link with the relief.
Place
Gulpen
Gulpen has a valley village look: streets, shops and openings to wooded areas. The interest lies in the continuity between everyday architecture and surrounding landscape, visible from the transitions between squares and alleys.
