Recent volcanoes, high-altitude meadows and railway node make up a still unpopulated stage between Beijing and the steppe.
Lake Daihai, Prairie Huanghuagou and Ulanqab Museum give the most telling landmarks of Ulanqab. Together, they form a destination where urban life, volcanic landscapes, countryside and natural spaces meet, with atmospheres that change over the course of the stages rather than just one uniform decor.

Lake Daihai
Daihai is a large inland lake lined with agricultural land and hills in the south of the prefecture of Ulanqab. Its level has varied greatly; accessible areas offer mainly a landscape stop on the roads of the region.
Nature and landscape
Prairie de Huanghuagou
Huanghuagou cut the meadow of Eightengxile by a rocky valley surrounded by wind turbines and flowered pastures in the summer. Cable cars and attractions make the site laid out, but quieter steps remain on the periphery.

d'Ulanqab Museum
The municipal museum gathers archaeology, nomadic objects and documents on the roads that crossed this crossroads of Mongolia-Integral. It is a useful introduction before the scattered natural sites around the city.
