Xining
Large high-altitude city, museums and monasteries serve as a door to the Tibetan plateau.
The discovery of Xining revolves around the Monastery of Kumbum, Dongguan Mosque and Mount Beishan. The stay thus alternates between the big city, urban life, heritage and mountain reliefs, giving a concrete picture of the destination beyond its only best known site.

For a stay of 3 to 6 days, it is better to balance visits and travel times. Also to be anticipated: access of foreigners currently restricted to Xining according to France Diplomacy and Kumbum remains the explicitly authorized exception in Huangzhong County. The trip can be organised without a car if the drop point and local connections are selected in advance. The main sites are generally easy to access.
