Karula offers a very rural southern Estonia, made up of glacial hills, forests, meadows and scattered farms. The park is discovered in small touches: a lake between the trees, a grassy path, a view from a height, villages where the landscape remains inhabited.

Lake Ähijärv is one of the simplest accesses to Karula National Park, with information center, small beaches and trail departures. Its banks alternate open and wooded areas, making it a good starting point for capturing the soft reliefs of the park.

The Rebasemõisa lookout opens a clear view of the Karula hills, punctuated with lakes, meadows and forest masses. In clear weather, the landscape seems almost undulating; at sunset, the reliefs take more depth.
