Tengchong Volcanic Park, Rehai Thermal Zone and Old Heshun City give the most telling landmarks of Tengchong. Together they form a destination where urban life, volcanic landscapes, heritage and natural spaces meet, with atmospheres that change over the course of the stages rather than just one uniform decor.

Doubtful volcanic cones dominate agricultural fields and offer a clear reading of regional geology. Distances, weather and access conditions must be checked before departure; water, suitable clothing and time limits are still useful, even during the most favorable season.

Fumerolls, hot pools and hot springs mark a valley to the south of Tengchong. An early-in-the-day visit allows you to better observe local usages and the details of the place, while avoiding some of the groups and traffic.

Houses, libraries and temples recall the commercial networks linking Yunnan to Burma and South-East Asia. Collections and remains take time to exceed a mere photographic stop; to reserve a sufficient beach helps to understand their regional historical context.
