Aulavik National Park protects a very remote portion of Banks Island, made up of tundra, low valleys and extensive habitats for muskox. The absence of roads gives the stay a dimension of shipping, with access by plane and complete autonomy. The Thomsen River crosses Aulavik in long, quiet meanderings, in an open tundra where the view takes a long distance.
