Elan Valley Reservoirs, Rhayader and Claerwen are the most telling landmarks of Elan Valley and Mid Wales. Together, they make up a destination where the shores and lakes meet, the natural spaces, the countryside and the mountain reliefs, with atmospheres that change over the stages rather than just one uniform decor.

The Reservoirs of the Elan Valley make up a quiet but technically strong set: water, dikes, banks and openings on the surrounding hillsides. Rhayader concentrates a very legible local life between square, market and secondary streets, with an atmosphere of borough of passage and stop.
