Oasis, royal tombs and high meadows mark the transition between Gobi and Tian Shan Orientales.
Lake Barkol, Old Town of Barkol and Oasis of Hami give the most telling landmarks of Hami and Barkol. Together they form a destination where urban life, desert areas, heritage and mountain reliefs meet, with atmospheres that change over the stages rather than just one uniform decor.

This salty lake extends between the high-altitude meadows and the tops of the Tian Shan. Hami Passes a high pass and the conditions change rapidly. Light, wind and season greatly transform the landscape.
