To understand what Harpers Ferry is, look at Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, Jefferson Rock and Appalachian Trail Conservancy. These places give us a view of a territory marked by heritage, riverscapes and mountain reliefs and allow us to move from emblematic sites to more intimate stages.

Harpers Ferry National Historical Park
Harpers Ferry is organized around the confluence of Potomac-Shenandoah and a historic centre where the entire industry and national memory are intertwined. The park allows you to follow the places associated with an abolitionist attempt, without making it an abstract account. We read a city where geography explains in part the historical episodes.

Jefferson Rock
Jefferson Rock The path that leads to the Shenandoah, just before its junction with the Potomac, with piled shale masses that give a imposing relief. The path that leads to it highlights the geological strength of the site as well as its strategic role of view. It is a very legible stop along the river.

Appalachian Trail Conservancy
L-Appalachian Trail Conservancy, Harpers Ferry, is a symbolic landmark for the Appalachian Trail walkers. The centre gathers maps, photos of hikers, tips and memory of a trail that crosses much of the eastern American. Even for a short stop, the place gives a concrete measure of the commitment that this crossing represents.
