To understand what Irish Loop is, look at the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve, Colony of Avalon and Mistaken Point. These places give us a view of a territory marked by the coastline, wetlands, heritage and natural spaces and allow us to move from emblematic sites to more intimate stages.

The Witless Bay Ecological Reserve protects several rocky islands frequented by huge colonies of seabirds, including macarous monks and tridactyl gulls. From the water, the visit takes on a particular intensity: bird screams, white guano cliffs, short waves and sometimes nearby whales.

Colony of Avalon
In Ferryland, Colony of Avalon reveals one of the oldest English colonial sites in North America in the form of live excavations. Stone foundations, artifacts, archaeology laboratory and harbour view transform the visit into a patient survey of the daily lives of the first European settlers in Newfoundland.

Mistaken Point
