Midway's Atoll combines tracks, buildings inherited from its military past and huge colonies of albatross in the heart of the marine monument of Papahānaumokuākea. The place carries both a memory of war in the Pacific and a major ecological value; ordinary tourist access is not open there.

Wake is a Pacific strategic atoll, marked by an airstrip, military installations and remnants related to World War II. The landscape mixes lagoon, low coral and still sensitive infrastructures; it does not visit like a living island, because access remains reserved for specific permits.

Atoll Palmyra
Palmyra protects an almost uninhabited lagoon, reefs, coastal forests and many colonies of seabirds. L-atoll is interested in its natural state of refuge, monitored by conservation programmes; the rare human presences are mainly researched, with limited displacements to avoid disturbance of habitats.
