On Big Mountain, Whitefish Mountain Resort opens wide views of Flathead Valley, wooded ridges and, in clear weather, the reliefs of Glacier National Park. In winter, the tracks cross snow-laden forests; in summer, uphill, trails and viewpoints attract those who want to climb uphill without leaving Whitefish for a long time.

Whitefish Lake bordering the city with clear water, framed by pines and mountains of northwestern Montana. It comes to swim from the beach, paddling in the morning calm or watching the last lights landing on Big Mountain from the shores near the centre.

Flathead Lake Impressive by its open horizon, almost marine, at the foot of the mountains of north-west Montana. Its banks alternate orchards, small marinas, pebbles beaches and views over a water known as clear; in summer, the lake road savors as much for swimming as for spontaneous stops.

Lone Pine State Park
Above Kalispell, Lone Pine State Park offers a legible panorama of the Flathead valley, with the mountains in the background and the city below. Its short trails are well suited for a simple exit, especially at the end of the day when the light cuts out the hills and forests.
