In Amasya, the Yeşilırmak valley tightens the city between the banks and cliffs of Mount Harşena. The tombs of the Pont kings dominate the historic districts, while the Bayezid II complex and the museum illuminate other periods. The castle adds a high-level discovery to this riverside route.
Tombs of the kings of the Bridge, Castle of Amasya and Museum of Amasya give the most telling landmarks of Amasya. Together, they form a destination where urban life, heritage, riverscapes and mountain reliefs meet, with atmospheres that change over the stages rather than just one uniform decor.

For a stay of 2 to 3 days, it is better to balance visits and travel times. Also to be anticipated: enhanced vigilance and access to the tombs and castle, separate from the riverside walks. The monumental tombs, which are dug in the limestone of Mount Harşena, dominate Yeşilırmak. They recall the role of Amasya as capital of the Pont Kingdom and form a royal necropolis directly visible from the city.

The castle occupies the steep rocks of Mount Harşena, north of Yeşilırmak. Its defensive position explains its relationship with the valley and the neighborhoods below, in a landscape also dominated by royal tombs.

Built in the 15th century at the request of Sultan Bayezid II, this complex includes the great mosque that bears his name. It is a landmark of the Ottoman Amasya, complementary to the fortifications and tombs of ancient times.
