The Salton Sea offers a stunning landscape of salty lake, white-washed beaches, migratory birds and abandoned stations in the Californian desert. Near Anza-Borrego, the place is interesting for travellers attracted by contrasts: harsh beauty, mineral smells, strong heat and environmental history still visible.

Borrego Palm Canyon

The Slot
The Slot is a narrow canyon where the clear earth walls sometimes tighten just enough to pass from profile. The walk is short but very sensory: sudden shadow, tight turns, friable strata above the head and exit on the dry hills of the badlands.
