Memorial fortress, western border and old railway give Brest a dense history.
To understand what Brest is, you must look at Fortress Brest, Brest Railway Museum and Sovietskaya Street. These places give us a view of a territory marked by urban life, riverscapes and heritage and allow us to move from emblematic sites to more intimate stages.

Culture and heritage
Brest Fortress
The fortress preserves barracks, impact-ridden doors and memorials of the siege of June 1941; its immense sculpture of Courage places the visitor at the heart of the Soviet story of the resistance.

Brest Railway Museum
Soviet steam locomotives and vehicles are lined up in the open air near the fortress, and they recall the role of Brest as a gap between European and former Soviet networks.

Rue Sovietskaïa
The main pedestrian street of Brest is known for its lamp lighter, which lights each evening by hand of the old lanterns before the public lighting takes over.
