The Church of the Assumption of Căușeni surprises by its semi-entered settlement and its ancient frescoes, preserved in a low and cool atmosphere. From the outside, the building seems modest; inside, the murals give the full strength of the place.

Căușeni is a small town in the south-east of Moldova whose interest is concentrated around its ancient church, markets and roads to the Nistru. The stage remains quiet, but it allows to approach a Moldova of low hills, agricultural villages and discreet heritage.

The south-east Moldovan countryside around Căușeni alternate fields, vineyards, villages stretched out and small undulations towards Nistru. It accompanies a journey to Purcari or Bender, with simple scenes: carts, wells, enclosed gardens and long roads not frequented.
