Delta Works and the Oosterschelde
Major works against the sea, estuary, islands, dikes, harbours and marine nature of the Dutch southwest.
Oosterscheldekering, Neeltje Jans and Zierikzee give the most telling landmarks of Delta Works and Oosterschelde. Together, they form a destination where the coastline, natural spaces and heritage meet, with atmospheres that change over the stages rather than a single uniform decor.

For a stay of 2 to 4 days, it is better to balance visits and travel times. Also to be anticipated: highly dispersed sites and marine meteoro. A car is usually the easiest way to connect different sectors. Accessibility varies from site to site and deserves to be checked step by step.

Schouwen-Duiveland
Schouwen-Duiveland brings together North Sea beaches, dykes, quiet harbours and villages like Zierikzee, recognizable by its quays and ancient houses. On a trip around the Delta, the island helps to feel the relationship between lowland, salt water and protective structures.

The Dutch fight against the sea is shown in a spectacular but very legible form: batteries, valves, roads and water in motion. From the breakpoints and Neeltje Jans, we measure the strength of the delta, especially in windy times when the structure seems to stand up to the whole landscape.
