Győr
Győr mix baroque squares, pedestrian lanes, pastel facades and walks at the confluence of the Danube, Rába and Rábca. The city lends itself well to a stage between Vienna and Budapest, with thermal baths, cafes and a compact centre that is discovered effortlessly.
Culture and heritage
Pannonhalma Abbey
The Pannonhalma Abbey dominates the wine-growing hills with its basilica, cloister, library and grass gardens. The Benedictine site combines religious heritage with a very neat landscape, interesting for both architecture and views of the countryside of the Hungarian West.
Town or village
Rába
The Rába cross-section Győr bringing docks, bridges and walks a few minutes from the baroque squares. Its banks give a softer reading of the city: reflections, terraces, trees and passages to the baths or residential areas, far from the commercial animation of the center.
