Heritage
Myra
Myra was a Lycian city in the Demre plain, between mountainous reliefs and sea. Its history has been extended to the Greek, Roman and Byzantine periods; its remains form a separate site from the present centre of Demre.

This Byzantine basilica is linked to the traditional burial site of Nicolas, Bishop of Myra in the fourth century. It became a museum and was a major place of Christian memory, distinct from the ruins of the ancient city.
