Letchworth State Park, Mount Morris Dam and Portage Viaduct are the most telling landmarks of Letchworth and Genesee Valley. Together they form a destination where natural spaces, forests, riverscapes and the countryside meet, with atmospheres that change over the stages rather than just one uniform decor.

Letchworth State Park
Letchworth State Park frame the Genesee in a dense gorge of vegetation and successive falls, without overloading effects: the viewpoints serve as starting points, then the shore trails give the real scale of the walls. The autumn amplifies the color contrasts between water, hardwood and rock.

Mount Morris Dam
The Mount Morris Dam closes the north of the gorge with a massive wall facing the valley, but interest remains first in the role it plays in reading the entire landscape. Reception centre, panels and viewpoints explain a protective work while opening up to an unexpected perspective of Genesee.

Portage Viaduct
The Portage Viaduct crossed the Genesee River gorge just above the Upper Falls, in one of the most spectacular points in Letchworth State Park. When a train passes, the bridge gives the landscape a brief vibration between cliffs, white water and forest. From the neighbouring viewpoints, the whole is understood with one glance.
