The discovery of Mardin revolves around the Deyrulzafaran Monastery — Mor Hananyo, the Great Mosque of Mardin and Medersa Zinciriye — Sultan İsa. East of Mardin, Deyrulzafaran is a large Syrian Orthodox monastery, also known as Mor Hananyo. For a long time, it has been a patriarchal seat, and it retains a living religious and cultural importance, distinct from a simple abandoned monument.

Great Mosque of Mardin
The great mosque of Mardin belongs to the artuqid heritage of the city. Its ribbed dome and minaret dominate the stone constructions of the old quarter. The court and the prayer room organize this religious ensemble.

Médersa Zinciriye — Sultan İsa
Finished in 1385 for the Artuqid sovereign Sultan İsa, Zinciriye formed a combination of teaching, prayer and funeral memory. Its courtyards and stone volumes occupy a prominent position in the old town of Mardin.
