To understand what Matsuyama and Uchiko are, you must look at the castle of Matsuyama, Dōgo Onsen Honkan and historic quarter of Uchiko. These places give you a view of a territory marked by urban life, heritage and countryside and allow you to move from emblematic sites to more intimate stages.

Matsuyama Castle
The castle of Matsuyama occupies a high hill in the centre of the city, accessible by foot or by mechanical lift. Doors, walls and historic dungeon form a very complete defensive ensemble, with an extended view up to the inner sea.

Dōgo Onsen Honkan
Dōgo Onsen Honkan is a large public bath of wood and stone whose volumes have superimposed over time. The access modalities evolve with the restorations, but the thermal district, its arcades and nearby baths keep an interest even without long swimming.

Uchiko retains a long street of commercial houses linked to vegetal wax, with clear walls, workshops and old open residences. The Kabuki Uchiko-za theatre completes this reading of a prosperous village without turning the whole into a completely frozen decor.
