Slieve Donard
Slieve Donard attracts hikers to the highest summit of the Mourne Mountains, with a sustained climb from Newcastle. The effort is real, but the views of the Irish Sea, the ridges and the Murne Wall give a very clear reward.

Tollymore Forest Park
Tollymore Forest Park combines river, stone bridges, conifers, hardwoods and trails at the foot of the Mourne Mountains. The park is suitable for a short walk as well as a longer walk, with a woody atmosphere very different from the nearby peaks.

Castle Ward
Castle Ward combines residence, gardens, agricultural courtyard and views of Strangford Lough in a very varied area. The visit is as good for the contrasting architecture of the house as it is for the outdoor walks, where water and wood quickly take over.
